Version 3.0 Feature Update
The current release is Pixel!FX
2000. However, we are making this archived
list of features available for the convenience of
customers using older versions of Pixel!FX.
The current version contains all the features below
as well as newer enhancements added prior to the latest
release.

Features are grouped by topic or Pixel! application.
New User Interface Features
- Color icons are smaller (take up less screen space),
but are easier to recognize.
- Icon toolbars, available in all Pixel!FX
windows, speed work and make features easier to
use.
- Tear-off menus allow frequently-used menus to
remain open at a screen position convenient to
the user.
- New icon-based, point-and-click interface has
been added, along with drag-and-drop capabilities.
- "Tool Help" area displays icon function when cursor
is over icon.
- Moving out of text area accepts changes; to perform
dialog OK/accept, press Return.
- Help system supports "go back" function to step
back through previously viewed Help panels.
- Scan setup has been improved with buttons that
allow one-touch selection of scan dialog.
- Print setup has been improved with buttons that
allow one-touch selection of print dialog.
- New license server and new password interface
make adding licenses and entering passwords quick
and easy.

- Support for working with multiple Image Albums
within a single Pixel! application has been added.
- When an Image Album is loaded from directory,
an icon is displayed to represent the directory.
- When the cursor is over an image icon, individual
image information is displayed. When the cursor
is not over an image icon, total Image Album information
is displayed.
- New drag-and-drop features improve productivity:
- Drag image icons to reorder images within
Image Album.
- Drag image icons over toolbar icons to
print, start OCR or close.
- Drag image icons to other Image Albums.
- Drag image icons between Pixel!FX
applications (SCAN, PRINT, EDIT, and OCR
windows).
- Drag image icons to other Motif 1.2-compliant
applications from the Image Album (when
application supports file name as drop
data).
- Drag image icons to Image Album from other
Motif 1.2-compliant applications (when
application supports file name as drag
data).
- Image aspect ratio is displayed on image icon.

- Prescan line art, grayscale or color images (if
supported by scanner).
- Zoom and scroll functionality has been added to
the prescan display.
- Adjust scanner color settings interactively using
the graphic display to obtain optimum input results.
Adjustable settings include white point, midpoint
and black point, depicted in a Histogram. Brightness,
contrast and gamma adjustments can also be made,
with results shown in a curve display.
- Auto adjustment mode has been added for color/grayscale
scans. Performs analysis scan on image to make
image-specific scan control adjustments before
performing actual scan.
- Threshold adjustment with interactive feedback
is now available.
- Extensive sizing controls have been added, allowing
precise scan area settings in flexible units.
- Size to print output calculates scan parameters
when given print resolution and sizing.
- Scan selection area can be edited with the resizing
handles.
- Scan Gang feature allows user to select multiple
images or image areas areas for inclusion in the
final scan pass. Per-image scan parameters can
be set, and scanning can be performed unattended.
- Scan to File feature lets users scan an image
directly into a TIFF file, allowing scanning of
images larger than the available swap space.
- Save and reload most scan setting combinations
for repetitive tasks.
- Initial scan settings are easily customized.
- Scan with independent x/y resolution when supported
by scanner.

- Independent x/y resolution is supported.
- Set tool options by double-clicking tool button
or by holding down Shift key and clicking.
- Selection speed has been increased.
- Image transformation and filter commands are now
on tear-off menus, to improve ease of use.
- Image size functions support independent x/y scaling.

- New print interface offers an interactive print
page display, allowing positioning of image on
the page for output to a postscript printer.
- Settings are customizable for multiple printers
and per-site printer configuration.
- Margin adjustments are automatically updated on
display when changed in PRINT window.
- Default margin settings are user-definable.
- Image can be centered and scaled.
- User can select the number of copies to print.
- Set page size to common U.S. and European paper
sizes or select a custom size.
- Orientation changes easily from Portrait to Landscape.
- Drag-and-drop functionality added:
- Drag image icons to from Image Album to
display on PRINT window.
- Drag image from other Motif 1.2-compliant
applications to PRINT window (when application
supports file name as drag data).

- Learns new fonts with Omni-Learning mode support
and saves learned fonts.
- Displays current line being recognized.
- Multi-page document recognition performance has
been improved.
- Drag-and-drop functionality added:
- Drag an image icon from Image Album to
display image in OCR window.
- Drag image from other Motif 1.2-compliant
applications to OCR window (when application
supports file name as drag data).

- WPG file format support means that images can
be output in WordPerfect graphics format and imported
into WordPerfect without conversion.
- New TIFF library added.
- New JPEG library available, with even faster compression/decompression.
- CGM export support added.

- For systems integrators, an API (Application Programming
Interface) is included with most Pixel! applications.
- API scripting interface supports most scanning
functions, some file conversion functions and
other system features.
