Subject: Installing a major product upgrade

Revision Date: July 27, 1999

To upgrade to the latest major product version, execute the following steps:

1. Terminate the existing license server.

ladmin -a
Mentalix % license exit
Mentalix % exit

2. Save the old Pixel!FX release.

cd $PIXELFXDIR/..
mv Pixel2 Pixel2_old

3. Install the new major product version of Pixel!FX.

/cdrom/install.sh (or /cdrom/INSTALL.SH)

Follow the instructions to install the new version of Pixel!FX.

4. Obtain your new password for the new version of Pixel!FX.

$PIXELFXDIR/bin/PasswordData

Fill in the requested information and e-mail or fax the file '/tmp/password.request' to Mentalix.

5. Receive password from Mentalix and install it.

6. Copy scanner information from the old version of Pixel!FX to the new version.

cp Pixel2_old/scanner.ref Pixel2

7. You are now ready to run the latest major product version of Pixel!FX.
