Subject: Installing a new version 5.2 maintenance release

Revision Date: July 27, 1999

To install a new Version 5.2 maintenance release, execute the following steps:

1. Terminate the existing license server.

ladmin -a
Mentalix % license exit
Mentalix % exit

2. Save the old Pixel!FX release.

cd $PIXELFXDIR/..
mv Pixel2 Pixel2_old

3. View the User & Install Guides, Mentalix Web snapshot, or product demos (optional).

Use your browser to view the CD Index at /cdrom/index.htm.

4. Install the new Pixel!FX version 5.2 maintenance release.

/cdrom/install.sh (or /cdrom/INSTALL.SH)

Follow the instructions to install Pixel!FX.

5. Copy scanner information from the old release.

cp Pixel2_old/scanner.ref Pixel2

6. Request your version 5.2 password from Mentalix.

$PIXELFXDIR/bin/PasswordData

Follow the instructions for sending your password request file to Mentalix. Mentalix will then send your new password, which will include installation instructions.

7. You are now ready to run the new Pixel!FX version 5.2 maintenance release.
