Subject: Installing a major product upgrade

Revision Date: March 7, 1997

To upgrade from Versions 3 or 4 to the latest major product version, execute the following steps:

1. Terminate the existing license server.

ladmin -a
Mentalix % license exit
Mentalix % exit

2. Save the old Pixel!FX version.

cd $PIXELFXDIR/..
mv Pixel2 Pixel2_old

3. Install the new major product upgrade.

/cdrom/install (or /cdrom/INSTALL)

Follow the instructions to install Pixel!FX.

4. Copy password and scanner information from the old release.

cp Pixel2_old/passwd/passwd Pixel2/passwd
cp Pixel2_old/scanner.ref Pixel2

5. Copy printer setup files from the old release.

cp Pixel2_old/printers/* Pixel2/printers

6. You are now ready to run the new Pixel!FX product version.
