Mentalix and UMAX Enter Strategic Marketing Alliance
Mentalix to provide UNIX interface for UMAX scanners
PLANO, Texas -- Mentalix, Inc. and UMAX
Technologies, Inc. announced that they have entered
into a strategic marketing alliance that gives Mentalix
rights to offer its UNIX software drivers for UMAX's
VISTA-S12, PowerLook II, and Mirage D-16L scanners.
The agreement also names Mentalix as an authorized
UMAX reseller and enables the company to offer UNIX
solutions that include their Pixel!FX
family of imaging software and UMAX scanning devices.
In addition, UMAX recognizes Mentalix as the exclusive
provider of UNIX solutions for UMAX scanners.
Mentalix offers users a choice among three UMAX color scanners
-- VISTA-S12, PowerLook II and Mirage D-16L -- to serve a broad
array of scanning needs. The VISTA-S12 is a high-speed scanner designed
for users with low- to medium-volume requirements, while the PowerLook
II approaches drum scanner quality in a flatbed scanner for the
pre-press market. For professionals who require a high-performance
scanner for large image scanning and mass production, the Mirage
D-16L is the fastest, large-format, flatbed scanner on the market
today.

A comprehensive, end-to-end imaging solution, Pixel!FX
features image import/export, scanning, viewing, photo

includes a database, which allows the user to store
and retrieve images according to title, image or keyword
description. The Pixel!FX family of products
provides not only image scanning capabilities, but
also includes an OCR component for scanning text and
converting it to an ASCII-readable format -- with
up to 99.5 percent accuracy in text recognition. The
entire suite of integrated imaging products can be
purchased in one solution, Pixel!FX Deluxe.
Mentalix also offers each application as a standalone
product, including: Pixel!SCAN, Pixel!EDIT,
Pixel!VIEW, Pixel!OCR, Pixel!PRINT,
and Pixel!LZW.
